Top Ten Gifts for Supernatural Fans

Welcome to another day of Geek Gifts!

ChristmasGeekery

Supernatural may possibly be the most ingenious show ever put on television. Sure there have been a ton of great shows, but the mythology, the research and the creativity involved in this show has been amazing. And considering they have been going for 11 seasons now that’s quite a feat. Most shows the writing burns out about season five at the latest. But it’s still fun and gut wrenching and amazing. So for all your supernatural fans, here are my top 10 things you must have this season!

10. Sam & Dean Body Pillow – This is seriously what my daughter would want for Christmas, but I’d be afraid she’d fall in love with it and never leave her bed. What could be better than Sam and Dean in your bed?

9. Supernatural Bracelets – Now I’m not saying I believe in Supernatural or anything, I’ll I’m saying is I’m one of those girls that would rather be safe than sorry. So wearing these bracelets can’t hurt right? I mean, you never know when you’re going to be possessed. The only thing missing from these is a vial of salt and holy water.

9. Castiel Shirt – One of the best quotes ever in the entirety of the show is on this shirt! Who doesn’t love Cas? Poor angel has been through a lot of crap for Sam and Dean. The true friend! This is a great shirt to show your support for the world’s best broken angel.

8. Books – Who doesn’t like books? The Men of Letters LOVED books! I would be in heaven in that bunker! So here are three books that look totally fun for any Supernatural Fan! Bobby’s Journal, John’s Journal and the Book of Monsters from Supernatural

7. Supernatural Clue –¬†One of your favorite Supernatural characters has been possessed & is committing terrible deeds! Now is the time for you to become the hunter and attempt to discover – WHO is possessed WHAT mystical object was used to open the demon portal, and WHERE the portal was opened! Was it Sam with the Revolver in the Rocky Mountains? Or Dean on the West Coast with the Winchester Journal? How fun is that??

6. Supernatural T-shirt – Again, this is one of the best quote in the show! And I love this design as well. It has a bit of everything on it for the Supernatural fans!

5. Best Friend Necklaces – These are so cool. Do you have a best friend and you want a cool necklace to share? This is it. The only hard part is figuring out who is Moose and who is Squirrel!

4. Dean Scream – Okay I have to admit I’ve watched that scene of Supernatural about a thousand times and I laugh hysterically Every. Single. Time. One of the funniest moments on the show!

Deanscreamil_570xN.807601694_m1oy

3. Chevy Impala – Who doesn’t love Baby? Baby is amazing and the poor old girl has been through hell and back with the boys! I mean she’s been stolen, wrecked, shot at, scratched and more. And my daughter is bound and determined to get a Baby of her own when she grows up. Now you can have you’re own Baby to show off as well ūüôā Just make sure to put her somewhere safe and treat her better than Moose and Squirrel do!

2. Nesting Dolls – I love nesting dolls. I have several sets and I think this is a great set for anyone who loves them. Sam, Dean, Cas and Baby are all included.

1. Jared Padalecki’s Sweatshirt and Charity – As many fans know Jared suffers from depression and has been very open about it. He started a campaign to help with the charity In¬†To Write Love on Her Arms.¬†To Write Love on Her Arms is a non-profit movement dedicated to presenting hope and finding help for people struggling with depression, addiction, self-injury, and suicide. TWLOHA exists to encourage, inform, inspire, and also to invest directly into treatment and recovery. The best gift you can give to a Supernatural fan is this sweatshirt that part of the proceeds help to support groups like TWLOHA or to make a donation in their honor.

And here is our added extra. The dreaded Supernatural Christmas Sweater! I couldn’t actually find a sweater so here’s a Christmas Sweatshirt Sweater instead.

21 Days of Halloween Countdown Halloween TV Shows!

family_skeletons_watching_tv

Hello Again! It’s me! So for today’s 21 Days of Halloween Countdown I wanted to mention some great TV shows that you can either start watching, or catch up on, or continue watching to get in the Halloween Spirit.

In recent years there have been a ton of new awesome Paranormal TV shows that have come out. You can literally find just about anything between network tv, cable, Netflix and Amazon. Here are a few that are guaranteed to scare you or entertain you or both!

The Number One best Halloween style TV show to watch, and one of my person favorites, Supernatural. This show has just about everything in it! If there is a paranormal creature out there, they’ve had it on the show. If it hasn’t been on the show – It doesn’t exist. The show creators continue to come up with awesome ideas every week. And Jensen Ackles and Jared Padalecki¬†have some of the best brotherly chemistry you will ever find on tv.

Next, The Walking Dead. Zombies have never been so popular as they have been in this show. It has been one of the highest grossing shows in the last five year. I am constantly surprised by people who are so addicted to it. It really is a great show with an awesome ensemble cast that is constantly changing. Because, well, it’s the zombie apocalypse, people die.

An oldie, but one of the best shows around is still Buffy the Vampire Slayer. If you haven’t seen Buffy you haven’t seen Joss Whedon at his earliest and some of his best! This show has it all. Teen angst. Vampires, werewolves, demons, witches, zombies, Vampire Slayers, more sexy vampires, you name it. This show is tons of fun and is still a cult classic and well worth watching over and over.

Haven is like a mix of Supernatural and Eureka. There are tons of supernatural beings with lots of different powers but they all live in the same town and there is one Super Supernatural cop who is trying to solve all the problems. But she’s stuck right in the middle with her own mystery. It’s pretty cool. And again, there are some hot guys.

Now, I liked the first few seasons of Vampire Diaries, but I got a bit bored with it when Eliana turned into a vampire. However, Originals is a whole thousand times better! I REALLY love The Originals. Elijah is the sexiest vampire out there. Seriously he’s hot! And Klaus is just my kind of crazy. Jackson is a man I could learn to love with his strong kindness. And all together, along with Rebecca and the other Michaelsons, even dear old dad, I think the family is fascinating. And very well done.

The biggie, that has also become somewhat of a cult classic is American Horror Story. These guys know how to scare people! Every season is different. Mostly the same cast but all new characters and stories. In recent seasons we are seeing how they all tie together. So we are now in our sixth season and I have seen the first five. I can honestly say that season one Murder House, was my favorite. It’s about a haunted house. Coven was my next favorite season, about witches. And HOLY CRAP Kathy Bates character in that season is the sickest person I’ve ever seen! Asylum was okay. There was a lot of things that had me scratching my head. Freakshow was a season I wanted to love so badly! But due to the second have of the season being about someone other than the freaks, I found myself only continuing to watch to find out who didn’t die in the end. Hotel was… not my cup of tea. This last season had a lot of things that were just boring to me. I got tired of seeing Lady Gaga in bed covered in blood almost naked except for pasties and underwear. I did however, like the twist they threw in the middle. And Mathew Bomer was great. All in all, if you want to be scared, American Horror Story is a great series to watch.

Lastly, The Amazon Series Hemlock Grove is a good one is you are looking for a crazy brain twist of a show. Famke Janssen and¬†Bill Skarsg√•rd are insanely good! The twists in the show are creepy and wild and will have you asking, what the heck?? And the werewolf shifting scene in season one is the grossest thing I’ve ever seen in my life! So if you want a great show, this is it.

So there ya go! Some great TV shows to get you in the mood for Halloween. Have you seen these? Do you like them? Do you have other shows you like better? Let me know so I can see them too!

A Dozen Franchises I am most Thankful For!

It’s Geek Out Friday!

There are lots of things I’m thankful for. My kids, my husband, my writing. Good food, good friends, family. All those normal things that people are usually thankful for. But as I sit and think about the things that have influenced my life; Who I am, what I love, how I think, I realize that there are some things in this world that I will ever be thankful for. Some franchises so awesome, that my life would be a bit sadder without them.

So here are my top twelve¬†franchises that I wouldn’t be the person I am, without. And these are not in order really because it would be WAY too hard to do that!

1. Star Wars РOld Star Wars, not new. Love Star Wars. Grew up on Star Wars. R2D2 backpack? Check! Ewok backpack? Check! Imperial March as Ringtone? Check! I love Star Wars and the great lessons it teaches about good versus evil. Han Solo is the sexiest rogue out there. Princess Leia is the epitome of a kick butt female. I wanted a Millennium Falcon to fly. Chewy as my partner and a lightsaber to fight the Sith with. Except Darth Vader,

2.¬†Marvel Comics – Hulk is my favorite. Nightcrawler, Gammbit, Wolverine, Loki, Ironman, Guardians of the Galaxy, Ghost Rider. I love them. Love them all. I am Groot. I just think comic books as a whole are the most awesome thing invented. My daughter has dyslexia and learned to read on Marvel comic books and the Marvel Encyclopedia. I would rather have marvel comic books than ever eat cake again. And that’s saying a lot because I seriously like cake!

3. Star Trek – Engage! I have loved Star Trek since Shatner sat in the chair. Though I must admit Picard was my favorite. Though Chris Pine is sure giving that statement a run. I’ve always found space exploration fascinating. To see other worlds and other people and creatures. Ever since I was a girl and used to go to the Air and Space museum in Washington D.C. I have loved Astronomy. To see, basically a flying city, go through the stars has always amazed me.

4. Lord of the Rings – I am part elf, so I love what Tolkien did with his rendition of us. Haha. I think J.R.R. Tolkien has one of the most beautiful minds in the 20th Century. And I think Peter Jackson did a fantastic job with the LOTR series. I will not comment on the Hobbit movies because I have a few gripes, but the book was also a great, fun read.

5. Dungeons and Dragons – Not the movies, the game. I’ve played D&D since I was like 14. It was my introduction to the world of fantasy after Star Wars. I went to college for theater so there was something so natural to me to create my own character and head out on an adventure with my friends. Too much fun. I still have my D&D books and refer to them when writing.

6. Underworld – This is one of my absolute favorite Vampire/Werewolf franchises to date. I could watch those movies over and over. I know they didn’t do well and that they weren’t masterpieces of acting, but for what was created, I think that Underworld and Underworld 2 are some of the best out there. They are true to how I think the world would really be if Vampires and Werewolves live in it.

7. Harry Potter – Who doesn’t love Harry Potter? Again, like Tolkien, I think J.K. Rowling is one of the most creative minds of our century. I have an entire bar in my house dedicated to my Potions, Harry Potter Posters, and Halloween items. Harry Potter has been a fixture in our house since the third book was released and as a newlywed my husband and I picked it up and decided to read it to see what the whole thing was about. We then devoured books one and two and moved on from there.

8.¬†Dr. Who – David Tennant! Uhm…sorry about that! I love Dr. Who. Especially David Tennant. I learned to love Matt Smith as well, but in a crazy little brother way. The stories were so fresh and new and original. The whole concept is just a lot of fun to watch. It was the first show I’d ever seen where they killed off the lead characters almost every season. So different.

9. Supernatural – Sam…cough, cough. I know, Dean is awesomesauce, and I love him too, but I am a Sammy fan. I also really love Crowley. The writing is amazing. You never get the same thing twice. It’s constantly fresh and new and just when I think they can’t do anything else, they do something new again. Love it. They are like watching a D&D campaign in our world today. Wait…didn’t they do an episode of that?

10. Alice in Wonderland – Such iconic characters that they’ve been written and rewritten dozens and dozens of times. Movies upon movies have been made and tens of thousands of people have contemplated the meaning behind the whole thing. For me? I love the idea of a girl crawling into a hole and finding an incredible new world where nonsense and frolic are the name of the game. It has inspired me in more ways than I can count. From going to Comic Con as Steampunk Alice in Wonderland with my kids, to having Mad Hatter Tea parties and writing love stories. Alice has inspired me!

11. World of Warcraft – RPG’s! I’ve played RPG video games almost as long as I’ve played D&D! When Warcrack…I mean, Warcraft came out my brother, whom I played a lot of D&D with, got me a membership for my birthday. HOLY COW! I’ve never been so addicted to something in my life! I was a crazy mama gamer who spent all night playing and all day taking care of her family. It only took a couple years to break the habit. Now, playing is a luxury I only buy at Christmas where I try to take a couple week off with my kids and we play together. Best Online Game Ever!

12. Buffy the Vampire Slayer (The TV Series)- Don’t laugh! Buffy, rocks! Angel, rocks! Bad Willow, Rocks! I love Buffy. I have seen the entire series at least 2-3 times and it never gets old. Buffy was so ahead of it’s time and Joss Whedon was a master of that world of vampires and demons and witches and werewolves and everything in between. It was one of the best introductions to Paranormal Romance for me and has helped inspire me as well.

So in conclusion, on this Thanksgiving Day! I am thankful to all those creative minds out there who inspire me and bring me joy and entertainment! To all of you I give a Huge hug and say, Thanx!

Halloween on TV All Year Long!

Halloween is my favorite holiday, incase my logo didn’t give you a hint. So I can’t tell you how excited I am that through television I can have Halloween all year round now. There are some new shows that have come out this year and in the last few years, that help bring that Halloween spirit weekly. Well, except for summer hiatus!¬† So here are the one I love!

Number One – Supernatural!
Supernatural with Dean and Sam is Halloween all year round. Angels, Demons, vampires, maybe werewolves, grim reaper, ghosts, Norse Gods, You name it! It’s had some hilarious episodes, some gross episodes, some sexy episodes, and some sad episodes. The writing on the show is great! If you are looking for a show where you can see: depressed teddy bears, people eat each other, someone come back from the dead, a show make fun of it’s self, and all around never know what is coming next, this is your show!¬† And luckily for all us Netflix people, Season Seven just arrived on Instant! Wahoo!

Number Two – Sleepy Hollow
A new show with the sexiest Icabod Crane I could never have imagined! Seriously! I never would have thought of him as sexy from the Disney movie! But Tom Mison does it! Again this is one of those shows where you get something new and different every week. The mythology behind the Headless Horseman is great and all the episodes so far have been biblically spooky fun!

Number Three – The Walking Dead
Yes, it is can be gross, but more than that, it is freaky! I can handle zombies, what I can’t handle is people! The people being terrible to other people. Those are what gets me. Though in a zombie apocalypse, you have to do what you can to survive. However, I still think they should go raid a farm and stay somewhere in the middle of nowhere, anything is better than a prison. But the show has killed off many of the more annoying characters, and a couple of my favorites are still around. Team Darrell!

Number Four – Dracula
Shudder, swoon, sigh – Johnathan Rhys Meyers as Dracula himself! What could be better? And it sure looks like there’s gonna be a bunch of steampunk in there, which makes me even more happy! And in case you missed my post about Vampire movies, Dracula is my favorite story. Just watching the show makes me want to stop everything and write my Dracula book!

Number Five – This one was a one season thing – Hemlock Grove
Netflix has been quite prolific in coming out with new amazing content, and Hemlock Grove is just one of them. There is only one season, and apparently where the book ends is where the season ends, but I have high hopes that there will be more seasons! This show freaked me out like none other. Famke Jensen is so creepy that it makes you feel like it is the real her she hides from the world. The werewolf change…let’s just say I never thought of showing it that way, and it was very stomach churning. The Frankenstein sister is a mystery I still want solved, and I cannot tell you more, or I will ruin it! Watch it. Freak out! Tell me about it!

Number Six – Teen Wolf
So I know what you’re thinking! Teen Wolf? Really? And when I was first told about it I thought, Teen Wolf? Really? But having watched it for a season and a half, it isn’t that bad. There are several characters I really like. And the Villains are great! The toenail issues of one Alpha female this last season had me wanting for her to get a pedicure in a BAD WAY! And the wonder twin alpha that can merge together make my skin crawl, but there are a lot of great characters, fun twists and teen angst. So as far as YA goes, the show is pretty good.

Number Seven – Vampire Diaries
I read the series, thought it was okay. Show the show coming out and thought, okay I’ll give it a shot. I loved the first season, liked the second season, by this last season, I was a bit disappointed, but that was purely do to the fact that I’m Team Stefan all the way! And if there was a Team Elijah or a Team Claus, I would have chosen those too. Just sayin’! I like the diversity of the show. I like how it has deviated from the books in many ways. And the fact that they now have the spin off of The Originals, that’s great too. But my favorite was bad Stefan. I liked him and it sounds like this season we will get to see that again, even though it isn’t really Stefan.

Number Eight – Buffy The Vampire Slayer
So actually this should be¬†number one because it is the predecessor for all of these shows. Now in reruns everywhere, Buffy remains one of my favorite shows of all time! Buffy and Angel FOREVER!!! Yes I was heartbroken when Angel left the show. And Riley was not my friend for a long time, but then Seth Green showed up as Oz and I was okay again. And though I LOVED Spike, I did not want him with Buffy. And then he went crazy and off the deep end, and so did the show! Not a fan of Dawn coming on the show, but loved Anya and wished she and Xander¬†could have made it work. Bad Willow was the best decision the show made, and One More Time With Feeling is on my playlist and I listen to the music because I love it. You get everything from split personality gods to robots, to people being fileted¬†and everyone losing their memories and thinking they are someone else. That episode was sooooo funny! So if you haven’t seen Buffy, you totally should!

All in all, there are a lot of great shows out there to keep the Halloween Fun going year round! If I’ve missed one, feel free to tell me!
