Okay so I missed Feature Friday so I decided to do an Amazing Monday with author Kitsy Clare and her Book Dorianna WHICH LOOKS SOOOOOO GOOD!
What is your Latest Obsession?
I’ve been reading tons of witch novels to find out more about them because I’m working on a paranormal historical romance right now about a young witch.
Who is your Secret Crush?
I like Tom Mison from Sleepy Hollow and oddly enough, I have a thing for Joachim Phoenix. I know, weird…
Shoes, purses or jewelry?
Jewelry AND shoes! I buy more of these items than clothes, by far.
Coffee? Tea? Hot chocolate? Or something else?
Black coffee in the morning, black tea later in the day.
Best Vacation Ever?
Going to Russia with my son and husband was amazing. I loved sailing down the Neva during White Nights, when the midnight sun was up. Loved the paintings in the Russian museum, and attending the Bolshoi Ballet.
Favorite Music to Write to?
I write in silence. That said, I create playlists for my novels. R&B and hard-ish rock.
One food item that grosses you out to eat?
Squishy, gooey things, like soft bread and custard pies. Yechhh.
A YA paranormal horror from Evernight Teen
Blurb:
Internet followers, beauty, power. It all sounded good.
Until it transformed into a terrifying reality Dorianna couldn’t stop
Dorianna is a dark twist for the Internet generation on A Picture of Dorian Gray. When her father is jailed, her mother ships lonely, plain Dorianna to her aunt’s. There, Dorianna yearns to build a new identity, but the popular Lacey bullies her—mostly for getting attention from her ex, Ander.
Ander takes Dorianna to Coney Island where Wilson, a videographer, creates a stunning compilation of her. She dreams of being an online sensation, as she’s never even had a birthday party, and vows she’d give anything to go viral. Wilson claims he’s the Prince of Darkness and warns her the pledge has downsides. Dorianna thinks he’s joking. She has no idea of how dire the consequences might be.
EXCERPTS:
#1
Muse—I roll the word silently in my mind, taste its honeyed essence. All the concerns that crowded my mind minutes ago drift off. Things like morality and conscience seem like dirty rain clouds bumping by. Life is good, I am awesome, and Wilson’s video kicks serious butt.
Placing my hand on his long, curiously delicate fingers, I whisper, “Am I your muse?” I remove my hand only when it starts to heat up, and before he gets the wrong idea that I want more.
Or do I?
#2
Solar images flash behind me. My wavy hair is backlit by the sanctified halo of yellow pixels. From behind the curtains, Cole tosses me a golden ball. I keep it aloft by tapping it.
Amplify. Wilson’s voice stokes me. He flits closer, a gypsy moth, drawn to my light. Then, I spot Lacey—double-crossing nymphomaniac—making a beeline for Ander.
“Amplify. Dazzle. Create!” I chant in a stern reminder. Shutting my eyes, I thrust back my head and stretch out my arms in an arc. Concentrating on forming energetic coils, I picture them pulsing at the speed of light from one hand to another. Push, heat, burn, howls the beast. I, too, release an animalistic moan as I coax my magic to a higher level. The crowd gasps. Why?
Opening my eyes, I see to my astonishment that I’ve conjured—yes, conjured out of thin air—an orb of light that wobbles above my palms. Sparks erupt from it as if a baby planet is being born, levitating and orbiting just over my arms.
#3
Good one, my beast giggles. My beast and I are frolicking. I’m not finished, not at all. In fact, I’m just getting started. Looking out, I glory in the fact that I have Ander’s full attention, but wait . . . he’s letting Lacey stand behind him, so close, almost touching. Protecting her.
I want to shoot fireballs to singe her hair, melt her skin, hurt her as she’s hurt me. But, no. I’ll gain ultimate command through more bouquets that melt like snowflakes.
More gorgeous impossibilities.
Stupid girl, scolds my beast. Spectacle’s not enough. She needs her teeth knocked out.
Shut up, I reply wordlessly, I’ll do it my way.
#4
“Freaking W-T-F!” I bleat, and press stop. I cover my face for a long, jarring time. Then, with horrified fascination, I press replay—same bad magic. My fingers tremble as I fumble for Wilson’s number. Texting won’t cut it for this conversation.
“Hello, Dor.” He picks up after just one ring. Expecting me? he doesn’t even have to say it out loud.
“Try harder to take those goddamn videos off YouTube,” I splutter. “I’m begging you.”
“The videos won’t let me.”
“That’s crazy. They’re not people! Did you write YouTube a help message? Double-check their tutorial on how to delete?”

He sighs. “It’s you. I told you before. The unpredictable magic in you wants them there.”
