Welcome to Hunky Alpha Wednesday! I am excited to have fellow Lyrical Press author Anise Rae and her Hunky Alpha Vincent!
What is your favorite drink?
Purified water. Everything that goes into my body affects my power. I can’t afford for it to be anything less than at its peak. But I confess that on quiet nights at home, when Bronte and I have nowhere to be the next day, I like to ply her with a little wine. I’ll drink a few sips myself if that’s what it takes. It doesn’t take much for my little syphon mage to get that sweet, sexy smile on her lips. She has this giggle. Took me awhile to discover that about her. It’s one of my favorite sounds in the world. The next morning I end up pouring most of the bottle down the drain, but I don’t mind. After those nights, I don’t mind anything.
She knows it too. She knows exactly what I’m up to when I bring a bottle of wine back to the cabin from the big house. Nowadays, all it takes to get that giggle is to put the bottle on the counter.
Favorite Food?
Anything Bronte makes me, though I do most of the cooking.
Best Date?
I recently took Bronte to our local zoo. It’s one of the best in the Republic. It rained the entire time we were there and she had to stick right by my side so I could use my mage power and deflect the rain from her. I bought her an ice cream cone and her tongue kept darting out to lick it. I got so distracted I accidentally dropped my deflection spell. Embarrassing…even it was only for a dozen raindrops. She looked up at me and gave me that sexy smile and that little giggle.
Worst Date?
Worst date? I can’t believe you’d ask that if you know our story. If you must know, I took Bronte to the symphony. It was nearly…. No. I’m not going to speak of this. It was the worst night of my life.
What do you notice first in a woman?
Her lips. Bronte’s lips are red and ripe. Luscious bits that I’d like to kiss each time I look at her. They’ve played in my every fantasy since I was nineteen. Now, Edmund, my brother, would have an entirely different answer and I’m glad of it. Saved us from fighting over Bronte. He goes for curves and softness. “A good juicy squeeze in both directions.” I believe those are his exact words. I hope he’s found her.
What is your biggest pet peeve with women?
I assume you mean before Bronte? If so, then my biggest pet peeve was that they wouldn’t leave. Once the mutual pleasure was over, what was the point? But Bronte…well, let’s just say, she’s showed me the error of my ways.
Use three words to describe yourself.
Commander, protector, mate
Oh, but wait a minute. Let me qualify that first word before Bronte finds out. I don’t command her. I command my men. I’m army, you know.
If you could meet anyone who would it be?
I suspect my brother’s hiding a woman. I want to meet her. I want to know who she is. I’ve questioned him a few times, but I think I’d have to put him in the basement and torture him if I want to know the truth. I’ve even tried to convince Bronte to question him, but that was a no go. Sometimes he looks like he’s about to pull out that pretty boy hair of his. I almost want to laugh, but whoever she is…she better not mess with the family.
What is one secret that you don’t want people to know about you?
I can tell you, but I will have to vow you to silence. Know that if you try to speak about this to anyone, you will choke on your words. Do you so vow? In which case…
A Stradivarius violin recently came up at auction. I bought it. Bronte, as you know, is a superb violinist. It’s a present. I confess I’m rather nervous about it. I hope she likes it. If I’m lucky, when she opens it, she’ll give me that sexy smile.
Are we done here then? No more questions? I admit I don’t often speak with Non-mages such as yourself. It’s been a pleasure, Miss Ganiere.
Syphon’s Song: Mayflower Mages, Book One
Legends say a syphon can drain a mage dry. He’ll brave the danger. Will she?
Someone’s playing pranks. The body of the late Casteel patriarch has been stolen and gifted to the family’s enemy, the powerful Rallises. As far as Bronte Casteel is concerned, they can keep it. She hasn’t spoken to her family in thirteen years, not since they exiled her from society for her lack of mage power. But she’s a syphon mage, able to drain another mage’s power. Syphons’ destinies are always the same: death by fiery stake. She hides her secret by living among the Nons–powerless humans and the lowest class in the Republic. When her family orders her to go plead for the body’s return, she comes face to face with the one man who knows her secret.
Colonel Vincent Rallis isn’t letting his syphon get away this time. Not when she’s under suspicion of body-napping and aiding anti-mage terrorists. He’ll prove her innocence whether she wants him to or not, and then convince her they belong together…forever.
Vincent’s help comes with a steep price: Bronte must reveal her power. The inevitable ensuing witch-hunt and trial would be bad enough, but even a tough girl might buckle if her prosecutors are her own parents.
CONTENT WARNING: Hot, steamy nights with the colonel’s magic touch
A Lyrical Press Paranormal Romance
BIO:
Anise Rae grew up among the cornfields and soybeans of Ohio, dreaming of being a ballerina, an astronaut, and a romance writer. Thanks to her soul-deep love of chocolate and a lack of natural grace, her ballerina dreams floated away as high as the moon, equidistant with the astronaut aspiration. She stuck with writing.
Now transplanted to the south, Anise lives in the suburbs of Atlanta with her kids and a dog gifted with the power of finding dirty socks.
Syphon’s Song, a 2012 Maggie Award of Excellence finalist, is the first book in the Mayflower Mages series. Enchanter’s Echo, Book Two, will be released in 2015.
