I’m so happy to talk about heroes on Rebekah’s blog today! Thanks for the invite, Rebekah!
For my most recent novel, my hero is a ‘savage’ or if you want to get all politically correct, he’s from a race called Daentarry. Daentarry men are exactly the way I like my heroes: tough, tattooed and protective. They have long hair, which I don’t mind, although I’m a fan of buzzed, barely-there hair. What can I say? I’ve been in the military since 1998. When I wrote the first draft of this novel, my heroes were giants, but since the series includes a love story that involves a fairy, it didn’t work out so well. Sex scenes? Can you say awkward? I think the change is definitely for the better, because they’re still super strong and almost superhero-ish, but now they’re only a half-foot to a foot taller than the main character as opposed to a foot and half taller—or more.
So let’s get to know my hero…
Who is he?
Remmie Noir. Mmm. His name just screams hotness.
What is his profession?
This novel is set in a fantastical land, but it has a 12th century feel to it. Remmie is a warrior guard from the land of Optavia, which is kind of like a knight who faithfully serves his king. His current mission: to kidnap the heroine (Isame Raine).
What does he drink?
Ale. Ain’t nothing better than some warm ale in a mug for this muscled man.
His favorite food?
Rabbit char-grilled on a spit over an open flame. Hey, he travels a lot and sleeps under the stars.
What does he notice first in a woman?
Her eyes. And he’s a sucker for a damsel in distress, particularly if he’s the one distressing the damsel.
Biggest pet peeve?
When Otis, his brother-in-arms, insists on singing.
Three words to describe Remmie?
Fierce, protective and guarded.
A secret Remmie wouldn’t want anyone else to know?
Hmm. I guess you’ll have to read the books to find this one out.
