One thing I love most about Halloween is all the cool decorations. I have more Halloween decorations than I do Christmas decorations! I just love them. If it was up to me I’d leave my decorations up all year. But since I can’t, I just have a section of my house that is always decorated with Halloween stuff. It’s the bar between my living room and my family room. And it’s lots of fun. My kids call it our Harry Potter area.
So what are my favorite things to decorate with for Halloween? Well here are 5 of my favorites.
5. Specimen jars and Potions
I love Specimen jars and potions! I have them everywhere. They’re creepy and cool and easy to put together. You can get jars from thrift stores, reuse jars from groceries, or buy them online. Then you just need some labels and stuff to put inside.
4. Spider Webs and Spiders
Anyone who knows me knows that I don’t do spiders. I hate spiders. There are very few things worse than spiders. Except, scorpions, and clowns. Those are worse. But I digress. There are two houses in my area that stand out with spiders. One covers the entire front yard and giant tree in one huge web. It must take forever and it looks amazing! The other puts up over 1000 spiders inside their whole house. When you trick or treat there and they open the door every surface is covered in spiders. It’s so creepy.
3. Skeletons
I love skeletons. And I love all the new skeletons that companies are coming out with. Dogs, Birds, Snakes, Frogs, Bats, You name it. And they are tons of fun to put both inside and outside of the house. You are only limited by your imagination.
2. Pumpkins
Sometimes I look at what we do to pumpkins and think it’s a waste. They are food after all. But I have started collecting reusable pumpkins. I love the new striped, dotted, glittery and fabric. I love them all. Fat, squat, tall, funny shaped, you name it. And when we do carve real ones and I’m done with them I cook them up for butter or pie or other yummy stuff!
1. Signage
I love cool signs, funny signs, signs that point the way to my favorite fantasy places. Signs are a great way to add to any Halloween display. Whether big or small, they are lots of fun.
