When my five year old son was six months old, I had an idea for a book. After the idea cemented in my head. I pants it into a 150K novel over the course of a month and a half.
Now four years later, and 50k lighter, it is finally going to be released by my publisher, Etopia Press.
Today I got a look at the preliminary cover art for the book. It was nothing like what I had envisioned, but I liked it none the less. I also found out that Dead Awakenings will be being released December 20th. Just in time for Christmas! I am so excited! And totally freaking out like a new father in the delivery room!
What do I do? What do I say? Where do I post? How do I let people know? I am all aflutter inside waiting and wishing and hoping! My first baby is going to be born and thrown out into the cruel world to walk, crawl, run or die on their own.
Words cannot describe the mixed bag of emotions I feel from doing this. I haven’t been at the publishing thing very long. It’s been almost a year since I started querying agents and publishers. Since then I have written an additional 3 books and finished a 4th.
I am super excited to begin this next chapter of my writing experience. Putting my work out there for people to, love, enjoy, or hate. Any way you slice it, it is a big step and one in which I hope to take dozens of more times!
