Halloween on TV All Year Long!

Halloween is my favorite holiday, incase my logo didn’t give you a hint. So I can’t tell you how excited I am that through television I can have Halloween all year round now. There are some new shows that have come out this year and in the last few years, that help bring that Halloween spirit weekly. Well, except for summer hiatus!  So here are the one I love!

Number One – Supernatural!
Supernatural with Dean and Sam is Halloween all year round. Angels, Demons, vampires, maybe werewolves, grim reaper, ghosts, Norse Gods, You name it! It’s had some hilarious episodes, some gross episodes, some sexy episodes, and some sad episodes. The writing on the show is great! If you are looking for a show where you can see: depressed teddy bears, people eat each other, someone come back from the dead, a show make fun of it’s self, and all around never know what is coming next, this is your show!  And luckily for all us Netflix people, Season Seven just arrived on Instant! Wahoo!

Number Two – Sleepy Hollow
A new show with the sexiest Icabod Crane I could never have imagined! Seriously! I never would have thought of him as sexy from the Disney movie! But Tom Mison does it! Again this is one of those shows where you get something new and different every week. The mythology behind the Headless Horseman is great and all the episodes so far have been biblically spooky fun!

Number Three – The Walking Dead
Yes, it is can be gross, but more than that, it is freaky! I can handle zombies, what I can’t handle is people! The people being terrible to other people. Those are what gets me. Though in a zombie apocalypse, you have to do what you can to survive. However, I still think they should go raid a farm and stay somewhere in the middle of nowhere, anything is better than a prison. But the show has killed off many of the more annoying characters, and a couple of my favorites are still around. Team Darrell!

Number Four – Dracula
Shudder, swoon, sigh – Johnathan Rhys Meyers as Dracula himself! What could be better? And it sure looks like there’s gonna be a bunch of steampunk in there, which makes me even more happy! And in case you missed my post about Vampire movies, Dracula is my favorite story. Just watching the show makes me want to stop everything and write my Dracula book!

Number Five – This one was a one season thing – Hemlock Grove
Netflix has been quite prolific in coming out with new amazing content, and Hemlock Grove is just one of them. There is only one season, and apparently where the book ends is where the season ends, but I have high hopes that there will be more seasons! This show freaked me out like none other. Famke Jensen is so creepy that it makes you feel like it is the real her she hides from the world. The werewolf change…let’s just say I never thought of showing it that way, and it was very stomach churning. The Frankenstein sister is a mystery I still want solved, and I cannot tell you more, or I will ruin it! Watch it. Freak out! Tell me about it!

Number Six – Teen Wolf
So I know what you’re thinking! Teen Wolf? Really? And when I was first told about it I thought, Teen Wolf? Really? But having watched it for a season and a half, it isn’t that bad. There are several characters I really like. And the Villains are great! The toenail issues of one Alpha female this last season had me wanting for her to get a pedicure in a BAD WAY! And the wonder twin alpha that can merge together make my skin crawl, but there are a lot of great characters, fun twists and teen angst. So as far as YA goes, the show is pretty good.

Number Seven – Vampire Diaries
I read the series, thought it was okay. Show the show coming out and thought, okay I’ll give it a shot. I loved the first season, liked the second season, by this last season, I was a bit disappointed, but that was purely do to the fact that I’m Team Stefan all the way! And if there was a Team Elijah or a Team Claus, I would have chosen those too. Just sayin’! I like the diversity of the show. I like how it has deviated from the books in many ways. And the fact that they now have the spin off of The Originals, that’s great too. But my favorite was bad Stefan. I liked him and it sounds like this season we will get to see that again, even though it isn’t really Stefan.

Number Eight – Buffy The Vampire Slayer
So actually this should be number one because it is the predecessor for all of these shows. Now in reruns everywhere, Buffy remains one of my favorite shows of all time! Buffy and Angel FOREVER!!! Yes I was heartbroken when Angel left the show. And Riley was not my friend for a long time, but then Seth Green showed up as Oz and I was okay again. And though I LOVED Spike, I did not want him with Buffy. And then he went crazy and off the deep end, and so did the show! Not a fan of Dawn coming on the show, but loved Anya and wished she and Xander could have made it work. Bad Willow was the best decision the show made, and One More Time With Feeling is on my playlist and I listen to the music because I love it. You get everything from split personality gods to robots, to people being fileted and everyone losing their memories and thinking they are someone else. That episode was sooooo funny! So if you haven’t seen Buffy, you totally should!

All in all, there are a lot of great shows out there to keep the Halloween Fun going year round! If I’ve missed one, feel free to tell me!
